We’re at a turning point in history. To prevent massive climate change, we must keep the huge pool of carbon that is the Alberta tar sands in the ground. The proposed Keystone XL pipeline would virtually ensure the opposite.
Whether to approve the Keystone XL is Obama’s decision. We’ve petitioned, called, and submitted official comments – but so far, Obama hasn’t committed to rejecting it.
What has worked is civil disobedience. In 2011, Obama was faced with another decision on Keystone XL, and conventional wisdom said he would approve it. But after 1,253 people were arrested at the White House, Obama postponed his decision.
Over 75,000 people nationwide have pledged to engage in peaceful civil disobedience if needed to stop this pipeline. Please join us.
