Climate Change Impacts in Wisconsin

The website Climate Wisconsin: Stories from a State of Change ( is a fantastic resource that describes impacts climate change will have (and is already) on Wisconsin, including farming, Great Lakes shipping, maple sugaring, forestry, and recreation like ice fishing and cross country skiing.  Each category includes personal stories of the people in these fields who are being affected, successfully putting a face to the climate crisis.

Ways to combat climate denial

For decades, fossil fuel companies – the richest corporations in the history of the world – have been willfully misleading the public about the truth of climate change.  They’ve been spending vast sums of money to buy off politicians, flood online forums, and influence the media to deliberately deny and minimize the science of climate change.  They may have the money, power, and influence, but we have something they don’t — the truth.

We need to combat this denial with the truth, wherever we find the opportunity — comments sections on blogs or online news sources, talk radio, letters to the editor, neighborhood gatherings, and so on.  Here are some more detailed ideas of how we can reach out to the public and truly educate them on the crisis before us.
